Marriage Ministry

Rockharbor’s Marriage Ministry exists to support couples at every stage of their relationship.

From engagement & preparation for marriage, to seasons of growth and maturity, and into even the most challenging seasons - so that every marriage reflects God’s love and redemptive purpose.

Preparing for Marriage

Marriage is one of God’s greatest gifts, and also one of life’s biggest adventures. But like any adventure, it’s one that we need to prepare for. Whether you’re seriously dating or newly engaged, we want to help you build a foundation rooted in love, faith, and practical tools for a lifelong relationship.

  • Who it’s for:
Engaged couples (or close to engagement) who want a focused, pastorally-guided process.

    How it works:
The Prepare & Enrich Assessment helps you understand your strengths and growth areas as a couple. After taking the Assessment, you’ll meet with a Rockharbor pastor who will walk through your results and guide you and your fiancé through meaningful conversations and practices that will help you thrive in your relationship.

    Steps in the Process:

    • Request Pre-Marital Counseling: Email marriages@rockharbor.org to receive pre-marital counseling from a Rockharbor pastor.

    • A pastor will arrange a time to meet with you and send you instructions to complete the Prepare & Enrich assessment (the assessment has a one-time fee of $45/couple).

    • Meet with a pastor for personalized sessions (between 4-6 sessions).

  • Who it’s for:
Couples who want teaching and facilitated discussion around tables with others on the same journey.

    How it works:
Created by Roger Tirabassi, with over 25 years of pre-marital work experience, this course is hosted at Viewpoint Church in Newport Beach over the course of 5 Saturday morning sessions, 3 times per year. This course combines teaching from a biblical perspective, real-life relationship skills, and guided couple conversations.

    What it looks like:
Couples will signup and attend 5 sessions together at Viewpoint church. Courses are hosted 3 times per year in January, May and September.

Getting Married: Request a Wedding Officiant

We’re honored to come alongside you as you step into the covenant of marriage! If you’d like a Rockharbor pastor to officiate your wedding, see the steps and expectations below.

    • Click the button below to complete the request form.

    • Once submitted, our team will contact you within a week to notify you of our pastoral team’s availability for your requested date. Note: We cannot guarantee that your preferred pastor is available on the date of your ceremony.

    • Once you’ve been paired with a pastor who is available to officiate your wedding, they will be in contact with you directly to begin the planning process.

    • All couples married by a Rockharbor pastor are expected to complete one of the pre-marital counseling options (see Preparing for Marriage section above).

    • Your pastor will meet with you to hear your story and confirm readiness for marriage.

    • Your pastor will also help guide and create your wedding ceremony.

Marriage Mentorship

Strong marriages don’t happen by accident—they grow through wisdom, community, and intentionality. Mentorship connects you with a seasoned couple who will walk alongside you in friendship and encouragement.

  • Married couples in the first 10 years of their marriage seeking encouragement, perspective, and relational tools for growth.

    • Marriage Mentors are primarily a safe, trusted relationship with another married couple who has been trained in mentorship.

    • Mentors will meet with you and your spouse regularly throughout the year, with an initial 1-year commitment, for the sake of:

      • Encouragement

      • Prayer

      • Friendship

      • Wisdom and Guidance

    • Mentors will also help encourage you in your relationship with your spouse through insights gained through the Prepare & Enrich Assessment.

    • After the first year, mentors and mentees will discuss their desire to opt-in for a second year of mentorship.

  • If you’d like to find out more, reach out to us at marriages@rockharbor.org.

Marriage Support

Every marriage goes through seasons of challenge. Seeking help is a sign of courage and commitment, not failure. We’re here to support you with both pastoral care and professional resources.

  • Who it’s for:
Couples experiencing conflict, disconnection, or a difficult season who want a trusted spiritual leader to help.

    How it works:
A pastor will meet with you to listen, care, pray, and provide biblically grounded guidance and next steps. Pastors will meet with you for an initial assessment before deciding together what future meetings should look like. The number of meetings with a couple is determined on a case-by-case basis.

  • Who it’s for:
Couples who need deeper ongoing support from a trained professional.

    What we believe:
Therapy can be a powerful tool God uses for healing, clarity, and restoration. We’re glad to help you find a qualified counselor aligned with your needs. All of our recommended therapists are Christians who we know personally and trust, or counseling centers that are faith-based and come highly recommended to us.
