Love Costa Mesa: Serving Our City Together

Norah Packiam

At Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, we believe the church is more than a place we gather on Sundays. We believe we are called to be formed in the image of Christ and to join His mission in the world by loving and serving the people around us.

Every summer Rockharbor Church participates in a church-wide service campaign called All 4 Love. Over the course of four months, the church practices living out God’s love in practical ways through a number of serving events like meal packaging and food drives. The first event of the All 4 Love campaign took place on May 16, 2026 during Love Costa Mesa, a city-wide serving day that Rockharbor Church Costa Mesa participated in alongside others across the Costa Mesa community. Rockharbor volunteers spread out across the city to meet needs, care for neighbors, and bring encouragement throughout various serve sites.

Mark, a member of Rockharbor Church, reflected on his experience serving, sharing: “Loving our city means taking a break from our normal day to day and doing things to see people you didn’t know, whether it’s cleaning up a park or making hygiene kits and activity bags for senior citizens. That’s why I love our church; we have a culture of serving and loving our city.”

Love Costa Mesa in Action

Across Costa Mesa, groups from Rockharbor stepped into different spaces with the shared purpose to love and serve our city well.

Some teams spent the morning cleaning up local parks, helping create cleaner and safer spaces for families and the community to enjoy. Others offered free car washes throughout the city—a simple but meaningful way to bless strangers with generosity and kindness. Back at the Rockharbor Church serve site in Costa Mesa, volunteers gathered to write notes and pack bags for senior citizens, serving elderly members of our community with care and intentionality.

Each project looked different, but together they reflected something central to who we are as a church: a people who live for the good of others.

Joy in Serving Our Community

At the car wash station, there was laughter and a shared joy in serving strangers who quickly became neighbors.

Stephanie, a member of Rockharbor Church Costa Mesa, reflected on the experience, saying she loved “seeing the smiles on the faces of people getting their cars washed” and “meeting new people that care about Costa Mesa and want to come out and love on the community.”

It was a reminder that serving in Costa Mesa is not only about meeting needs; it’s also about connecting with people in the broader community and building new friendships as we work alongside one another.

Serving Together Through Park Cleanup in Costa Mesa

At the park cleanup sites, teams worked together picking up trash and sprucing up park pavilions.

Mandy shared, “I just think there’s nothing better than working together as a community to give back, build relationships, and beautify God’s creation together.”

There was something grounding about the work—a shared rhythm of serving that bonded the community of Costa Mesa together.

Creative Acts of Love

Back at the Rockharbor Church campus in Costa Mesa, the serving took on a creative and heartfelt shape as volunteers wrote notes and packed bags for senior citizens in our community.

Susan shared, “I love making pretty things that remind people of Jesus.” Another sweet moment came from a child who created a “walking rainbow,” a fun-loving and joyful expression of imagination and kindness that reflected the spirit of the day.

Even the smallest details served as a reminder that beauty, creativity, and care are ways of expressing the love of Jesus.

Why Serving Matters at Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa

At Rockharbor Church in Costa Mesa, we believe God invites us to participate in His mission in the world—to love our neighbors, seek the good of our city, and live as people shaped by Jesus.

Love Costa Mesa is just one expression of that calling, but a hugely important expression.

It reminds us that serving doesn’t always require something big or complicated. Sometimes it looks like picking up trash in a park in Costa Mesa, washing a stranger’s car, or packing a bag with care and prayer.

But always, it looks like love in action.
