ROCKHARBOR understands the value of mentorships. Putting people together to help in their walk with Jesus, encouraging each other to learn and grow in their faith. In 2010 we felt called to move our focus outwards, this is one way we are doing so, making a difference in the lives of Costa Mesa’s youth.
At-Risk Youth Mentors
The best way to make a difference in student’s lives is through mentorships. We’ve started with at-risk students, meeting once a week in small groups, helping them to successfully navigate their way into high school, and reaching them through the gospel. The fact that an adult is investing in their future means the world to these teens. We believe these students are the future leaders of their community; we are their advocates, helping them to move beyond the lives that are holding them back from reaching their potential.
Starting with Estancia High School in 2010 we were only able to connect with 12 of the over 100 teens at that high school alone. Now that 2 additional schools (Costa Mesa High and Tewinkle Middle School) have been added the need has never been greater.
This is our opportunity to affect change in the lives of these amazing teens, helping them rise to new challenges, and take on the world around them with a partner, no longer alone in their struggle.
