Watts

Many of us are living the “OC Lifestyle.” In fact, some of us pay more per month for our car payment than entire families earn in a month in Watts. This infamous community just north of us in L.A., is plagued with drug abuse, neglect, gang violence and even murder.

ROCKHARBOR’s outpost in Watts led by a group of volunteers dedicated serving the people of Watts, and is in partnership with Powerhouse Church located in the center of Watts. There are several government-built forts AKA homes right next store. The neighborhood is infested with drugs, alcohol, and gang violence.

Currently, our ministry consists of monthly Sunday trips to join in the Powerhouse Church Service and to hang out with the community throughout the afternoon. For those who come on these day trips, we encourage you to expect the unexpected. Expect chaos. Don’t expect anything to start or end when it is supposed to. Don’t expect anyone to remain in one place for very long. Do expect surprises. Do expect God to do things that you couldn’t have imagined if you had not experienced it yourself. Expect answers to prayers, especially the silly little ones. Do not expect to control anything. Expect that God has ultimate control and that He will act on your behalf when you ask Him to. Expect to pray a lot. Expect to be blessed.
