India Floods | 2009

Torrential rainstorms devastated regions in southern India in October 2009, including the areas immediately surrounding RH partner Harvest India. The situation is even more urgent than the Indian government is letting on as more than 300 people have lost their lives, over 1,000,000 more have been displaced into 1,600 relief camps and nearly 2,000,000 have been affected by the in the five surrounding districts of Harvest India.

ROCKHARBOR’s Response

As both a ministry partner to Harvest India and a church community that feels called to further God’s kingdom in India, God called us to respond through prayer and sacrifice.

Our First Fruits Ministry gave an immediate gift of $20,000 to Harvest India that will specifically provide 2,000 relief packets filled with food, water and clothing to displaced people. First Fruits also increased it’s monthly giving to Harvest India for the 6 months following the floods to provide ongoing relief.
