We don’t call it a college service, but our Sunday night Celebration Services at our Central Campus are full of people who are college-age or close to it. At a glance, Sunday night closely matches our other three weekend services: you’ll hear the same message, called to seek and respond to God through prayer, song, communion, giving, and however else the Holy Spirit leads, and have a chance to connect with people. In addition to all that, there’s definitely a unique dynamic on Sunday nights that’s shaped by the passionate hearts and voices of today’s emerging generation.
Why doesn’t RHhave a mid-week college service?
ROCKHARBOR has students from over 15 different colleges and universities gather every Sunday to worship together. As much as we would love to gather everyone again on a weeknight at ROCKHARBOR, we think it is more important that students are investing and gathering in their communities and on their campuses. We encourage our students to do this through college life groups.
Who is considered a college-something?
Are you between the ages of 18 and your mid 20′s? Then ”college-something” means you!
What’s the best way to get connected with the college-something community at RH?
First step, attend our Sunday night Celebration Services at our Central Campus: 7pm & 9pm. This community comes in ready to worship and experience God together.
Hang out at Sunday Night In The Hangar: Every Sunday night after the 7 & 9 pm services we gather in the hanger across the street from The Centre. There are areas where people can play games (wii, ping pong, pool, board games and more), food is available for people who want to sit and eat together, and there are occasional follow up conversations and Q&A’s coming out of that weekend’s message and service.
Join a College Life Group that is near your college to get together with weekly with other students who also attend RH.
What are College Life Groups?
College Life Groups are groups of about 12-15 people who meet weekly in dorms, apartments, homes, coffee shops, and anywhere else people can think of, throughout Orange County and near college campuses. Each week, they study God’s word, pray, worship and share life together. The best way to learn more is to try out a group! Who leads College Life Groups?
ROCKHARBOR desires to be a place that is raising up leaders to lead in the Church and the world. One of the ways we desire to help develop leaders is to have college students lead their peers in College Life Groups. Each College Life Group is co-ed and led by 3 students. Each of these leaders is taken through a leadership course and then mentored throughout the year. If you are interested in leading a College Life Group on your campus or mentoring a college leader, please email Brian Rottschafer.
How can I serve in the college ministry?
A ministry for an emerging generation, this ministry itself is in the process of emerging. In other words, whatever you’ve got, bring it on! Whether you’re a college-something with a little free time or creativity, or somebody older who’s got a heart for investing in today’s generation on the verge, this ministry has a role with your name on it.
