There appears to be a contradiction between a loving God, and a God that does not let the guilty go unpunished, but that is not the case. At the heart of the sacrificial system is the idea of atonement. It was a system designed by God, to bring us closer to him. It is about covering and rescuing us from sin. This leads us to Jesus, the sacrificial lamb. God gave us Jesus with a purpose, to send Him to the cross, to atone for our sins.
