at ROCKHARBOR, we believe the best way to expand the kingdom is by planting churches. we believe this because we've lived it...

 

in 1997, a small team from mariners church stood in front of its congregation and was commissioned to the city of costa mesa as a church plant. 12 years later, that small team has become ROCKHARBOR church and together we're now the ones called to raise up, resource, journey alongside, and ultimately commission some church plants ourselves. 

as part of the 2+1 vision, ROCKHARBOR will launch one church plant each year beginning in 2009.

so, what is a church plant?
a ROCKHARBOR church plant is an increasingly autonomous community that has received the blessing and affirmation of RH leadership. church plants will be unique to their specific contexts and will have their own elder board and leadership teams. how much a church plant shares the vision and values of RH is up to them.

where is ROCKHARBOR planting?
long beach | the garden
last year, we let you know about something God was doing in the city of long beach. called the long beach project, a group of people began to pray for, explore, and invest in the long beach community. as God revealed to them His heart for this city, He also made clear His vision for this group to plant a church there. after several months building this community and investing in the city, the garden launched in the fall of 2009 at cohiba in downtown long beach.

hollywood | basileia
sometime in 2010, ROCKHARBOR will help launch a church plant in hollywood called basileia...that much we know. we're still looking to God to bring a lot of the details into focus. alongside leaders david ruis and don williams and in partnership with a few other churches, ROCKHARBOR will help invest a group of people into an area that most needs the gospel.
