the garden

last year, God began to invest a small group of ROCKHARBOR people in the city of long beach. called the long beach project, they began to pray for, explore, and get to know the long beach community. they found God in the art district there. they found God with those living in poverty in the rescue mission. and they found God with the inner city kids they mentored. as God gave the group His heart for this city, He also made clear His vision for this group to plant a church there.

what followed was several more months of seeking God's direction, building this community, and investing in the city. they launched small groups, served in and with the community, and found their unique place alongside the art community. it all lead to the launch of a new church, called the garden, on october 11 at cohiba in downtown long beach.

their mission is to be a community who lives out love in such a way that compels all people to embrace wholeness, justice, and truth together in and for the kingdom of God. as a community, they live this out through sharing meals, praying, worshipping, telling stories, being missional, giving, and gathering together.
