Sacrifice

At ROCKHARBOR, God has awakened us to identity, family, and mission and has asked us to make these marks our own. He’s also asked us to be people that regularly sacrifice together…so that our county would know Jesus.

God challenges his Church to lives beyond their own comfort. He dares His people to lay down the prosperity gospel and pick up the Gospel of Jesus. In that, He invites us to look at the world in a new way…not as the petty extras in our own screenplays, but as the very characters that compelled Jesus to the cross. He invites us to sacrifice of ourselves so that He would become known.

We live in a part of the world where even living within our means is not a popular idea. The thought of living sacrificially, then, seems downright bizarre apart from Jesus. For our community, however, we want to be people who regularly sacrifice our resources in ways that declare who God is. We must give the best of every part of ourselves—our time, our money, our energy, our relationships, our rights, our dreams–both as witness to Jesus and in worship of Him. We give because He first gave everything for us and we believe He will use our sacrifices to make Himself known in and beyond our county.
