Ministry: RH//kids
Job Title: Associate Director of RH//kids::Elementary
Hometown: Kings Beach, Lake Tahoe, Ca.
Family: One older brother who has 6 kids! One younger sister who has 2 kids. I love being an aunt!
In 10 words or less…
Describe your job.
Fun with kids, high energy, organization, many details, so fun!
Describe a normal day.
Check emails, make lists, have a meeting, email some more, have another meeting, figure out weekend supplies for all of elementary including campuses, go have a fight with Nigel (our copier), have another meeting, check stuff off my lists, find a snack, email some more.
Meetings…love ‘em or hate ‘em?
It’s just what we do…we meet. No way around them.
Favorite accomplishment/project since joining staff?
I think my favorite accomplishment involves my team…when we pulled together, worked our bottoms off, and took VBS to the neighborhoods across Orange County with GO Big!
One thing people don’t realize about the staff that they need to know?
We love Youtube videos.
Tell us a story of what you’ve seen God do through your ministry [use more than 10 if you need to].
I’ve had the exciting privilege to see kids respond to God in real and powerful ways. There’s nothing that can compare to seeing kids boldly stand up in front of their peers and declare what they know to be true about God. “God is righteous”, “God provides for me”, “God is Creator”…priceless.
This or that:
Beach or mountains?
I can’t chose. I love to surf so I’d say beach, but I grew up in the mountains.
PC or Mac?
I think I have to answer Mac, but I feel like I’m cheating on my PC (my work computer) that I happen to be writing this on.
Coldplay or U2?
I like both!
Sports or arts?
I enjoy both!
Creative or administrative?
I think I’m both. I think I have to be for my job…working with kids but having to be very organized and a planner in order to make the fun stuff happen.
Skinny jeans or comfortable ones?
How about jeggings because they are a happy mixture of both.
Randoms:
Most embarrassing moment?
One time when I was sitting in a church service (not RH) the pastor asked for anyone who was in the service to stand up so we could pray for them. All I heard was for people who served (as in, serve in ministry) to stand. I didn’t put it together that it was Veteran’s Day and the pastor was asking for people who served our country to stand so we can pray for them. Yeah, I didn’t figure that out until after the prayer and once people that I knew well started asking me when I had served in the military. SO embarrassing! It took weeks before people stopped teasing me about this. (And this may be the first time I’ve spoken of it since.)
Favorite date spot in the OC?
I’d have to say Pei Wei at the Bluffs every Saturday night after service. I have them on speed dial.
In the next 5 years, I will….
Be 5 years older and wiser.
The best movie of all time is clearly…
I’m going to get judged for this but here goes… I love “Blue Crush”. Yep, I said it. I think everyone should own it.
Everyone should read…
Well, since I work here, isn’t my answer supposed to be the Bible? If not, I’d say the Twilight books (no judging…what if I’m serious?)
Favorite Todd Proctor song?
The ones from the Tru Albums!
